Regarded by many as one of the greatest British poets, Lord Byron was a prominent man in British culture during the Second Romanticism, of which he was the most representative with John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley. After the failure of his marriage, George Gordon Byron decided to leave England, and on the afternoon of 10 November 1816, he arrived at the Hotel Gran Bretagna in Venice, where he had been given an apartment overlooking the Grand Canal. At the age of 28, he had chosen Venice as his refuge. The lagoon city became a second homeland. During this period, Lord Byron attended the famous Florian Café in St. Mark’s Square, already one of the most renowned literary cafés of the time, frequented by Carlo Goldoni, Silvio Pellico, Charles Dickens, Wolfgang Goethe, and many others. Aurora Soranzo accompanies the reader on a literary and biographical journey on the places lived and described by the great English poet.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR AURORA SORANZO

Can you share what inspired you to become a graphologist and how your journey in this

field began?

My passion for graphology was inspired by my father, Dario, a renowned linguist and collaborator with Giovan Battista Pellegrini, with whom he published numerous international essays on writing. Through him, I discovered the importance of writing as a unique form of personal expression.

During my university studies, I developed a growing interest in graphology and learned how handwriting can reveal aspects of a person's character and emotional state. A significant moment was when I analyzed the handwriting of a close friend, confirming that personality traits can indeed be reflected in one's writing. This led me to pursue formal training in the field, enriching both my personal and professional development.

How do you balance your work as a graphologist with your passion for writing and historical research?
