Roderick Von King boasts an extensive career as an Aerospace Engineer, holding a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science in Computer Science. Alongside his engineering expertise, he is a published songwriter and the proud owner of a record label, production company, and music publishing company. Venturing into book publishing, he recently debuted his first novel, Why Didn't We Love?

AUTHOR RODERICK VON KING

The novel’s success was cemented when it won the prestigious International Impact Book Award for Romance in March 2024. Building on this achievement, Mr. King completed his latest book, Altar Call – An Honest Depiction of a Path to Salvation, inspired by his song Altar Call, which outlines the steps toward embracing salvation. Former Vee Kay Records recording artists Carla Brown and Michael Nelson contributed to two versions of the song’s recording. The book later won the International Impact Book Award for Personal Transformation in November 2024. Mr. King has also narrated the audiobook for Altar Call.

Beyond literature, he has finalized the screenplay for Why Didn't We Love?, along with the corresponding song. His latest project, Last Night in Trinidad, chronicles his experiences during Trinidad’s Carnival season. This adventure-driven work explores the music, culture, festivities, panorama, and the colorful parade of bands. Mr. King has penned over ten Soca songs for the project, drawing from firsthand encounters with Trinidadian Soca stars and Steel Pan arrangers.

Roderick's passion for storytelling extends across both music and literature. His early exposure to the music industry came through his cousin, Gordon DeWitty, a seasoned musician and producer. Through him, Roderick gained unique insights into the business, mingling with legendary artists such as Sly and the Family Stone, Bobby Womack, Rufus and Chaka Khan, and Con Funk Shun. This early immersion led him into songwriting, which later evolved into screenwriting and novel writing.

As he transitions from engineering to a full-time writing career, Roderick Von King continues to captivate audiences with compelling narratives inspired by his travels, life experiences, and spiritual reflections. Stay tuned for more of his engaging work.

Mr. King’s book, Why Didn’t We Love?, has just been nominated for the International Impact Author of the Year 2025. Voting closes on April 1, 2025.

ABOUT THE BOOK: WHY DIDN'T WE LOVE?

Follows Bobby Vail as he reflects on his lost love and the heartbreak of unrequited affection. A former high school All-American scholar-athlete, Bobby moves to Los Angeles for college, where he falls deeply for Monica Devoreaux, a captivating woman from New Orleans. However, fate and circumstance keep them apart for two decades.

WHY DIDNT WE LOVE

Monica, entangled with a wealthy older man, struggles with independence, while Bobby navigates love, politics, race, and religion. As a project engineer, he becomes embroiled in a corporate cover-up, forcing him to choose between integrity and self-preservation.

This emotional journey explores love, sacrifice, and the decisions that shape our lives. Available now on Amazon in paperback and Kindle.

ABOUT THE BOOK: ALTAR CALL

A Journey of Faith explores one man’s spiritual quest for truth. Guided by his mother’s teachings from Proverbs 22:6, he initially believed baptism marked the end of his search, only to realize it was just the beginning.

ALTAR CALL

After years of relying solely on church services, a transformative experience at the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) rekindled his passion through music. Studying at a Jesuit university deepened his inquiry, but instead of clarity, he found more questions, leading to a temporary retreat from his faith. However, his search never ceased as he explored salvation, the Holy Trinity, and creationism versus evolution. Through evolving relationships, he gained a deeper understanding of grace, redemption, and the power of faith in action. This spiritual growth led him to express his beliefs through Christian music, inspiring others through songs like Altar Call. Now available on Amazon in paperback, hardcover, Kindle, and Audible.
