Country music star Garth Brooks faces accusations of sexual assault from a woman identified as "Jane Roe." The accuser, who claims to have been Brooks' makeup artist since 2017 and worked for his wife, Trisha Yearwood, since the late 1990s, alleges that Brooks assaulted her during a 2019 work trip. Brooks has strongly refuted the allegations, labeling them as part of an extortion attempt. As the lawsuit unfolds, more details about the case are emerging.
On October 3, 2024, a lawsuit was filed against Brooks in a California state court, accusing him of sexual assault and harassment. Roe, the plaintiff, claims Brooks raped her while they were on a work-related trip to Los Angeles in 2019. According to court documents obtained by CNN, Roe alleges that she and Brooks traveled together to Los Angeles for a Grammys tribute performance, during which the incident occurred.
The lawsuit states that while Roe typically traveled with others on Brooks' private jet, on this occasion, they were the only two passengers. Upon arriving at the hotel, Roe alleges that Brooks booked a suite with only one bedroom, leaving her without a separate room. Roe further claims that Brooks appeared naked in the doorway and, feeling trapped, was sexually assaulted. After the alleged incident, Brooks reportedly shared his sexual fantasies with Roe, including remarks about wanting a threesome involving his wife.
In response to these accusations, Brooks has denied all allegations in a statement to CNN, claiming he has been subjected to threats and attempts to extort millions of dollars from him. Brooks expressed his refusal to pay any hush money, stating that doing so would imply guilt for actions he did not commit. He further revealed that he had filed a countersuit nearly a month prior, accusing the plaintiff of extortion and defamation, with the case filed anonymously to protect both families involved.
