Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is set to return to prison this Sunday following an order from the Supreme Court. His plea for temporary bail on health grounds has been deferred by the Delhi court until June 5.
In a message posted on the social media platform ‘X,’ Kejriwal informed the public that he would be surrendering around 3 pm. Before heading to jail, he plans to visit several significant locations, including Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at Raj Ghat, the Aam Aadmi Party office on DDU Marg, and a Hanuman temple.
"Following the Hon’ble Supreme Court’s directive, I was out for 21 days to campaign for the elections. I am deeply thankful for this opportunity. Today, I will surrender myself and go to Tihar Jail. I will depart from my home at 3 pm, first visiting Rajghat to pay my respects to Mahatma Gandhi. After that, I will visit the Hanuman temple in Connaught Place to seek blessings," Kejriwal stated in his post.
He continued, "From there, I will proceed to the party office to meet our dedicated workers and party leaders. Following this, I will head to Tihar. Please take care of yourselves. If you all are happy, then your Kejriwal will also be content in jail."
Kejriwal, who is incarcerated due to his involvement in the Delhi excise case, was previously granted a three-week temporary bail to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. This period concluded yesterday.
